Things to Be Taken into Consideration while Buying Tandem Pushchairs
If you have twins or children with less age difference, a double pushchair is the right choice for you. It not only serves your need for taking the children along whenever you go out, but also allows you to carry them conveniently.
The two popular varieties of double pushchairs are twin and tandem. Both the varieties contain two seats. The seats are attached one after the other in case of tandems, and placed adjacent to each other in case of the twin pushchairs. However, the choice of pushchair should be governed by your and your baby’s specific needs.
Tandem pushchairs are generally preferred by parents with children of different age groups. The front seat in such pushchairs is generally vertical and is better suited for elder children, while the back seat is adequately padded and can be adjusted to suit the needs of a newborn, with sufficient space to sleep.
The spacing of tandem pushchairs caters to the space requirements of even older children, and prevents these children from reaching the newborn or disturbing its sleep. The biggest advantage of tandem pushchairs is that with their narrow widths, they can easily pass through narrow doors and alleys without any difficulty.
However, this is not to say that tandem pushchairs are devoid of disadvantages. They are not only bulkier than their twin versions but also more difficult to operate at curves and turns. They are also less stable than twin pushchairs, and if you fail to purchase a proper folding pushchair, accommodating them can be problem, especially when not in use.
