The Power of the Pen: when to Handwrite a Letter

Posted by admin in Your Business

It can sometimes seem like penmanship is becoming redundant, it’s one that is even nowadays vital in many areas of life. A written missive communicates more gravitas than a typed letter; e.g. an application for a job, an invitation or an apology.

You may believe it’s a recent trend of the masses shunning penmanship and using a computer instead, but way back to the late 1800s, there were cries that handwriting was overlooked because of the invention of those times : the typwriter. Nowadays, the rap is being corresponded to the usage of computer keyboards.

However, there is still a healthy need for penmanship ability in in every area of day to day life. Penned letters are considered as to a greater extent more reliable, they demonstrate the author has studied over his words, while demonstrating more respect to the recipient. In the era of “canned responses”, the penned letter has never been more potent.

I have oftentimes been caught red-handed with my own bad hand writing - made worse due to years of reliance on the keyboard. In situations in which I’ve had to hand write something, my words have been a sloping scrawl. It doesn’t look good. What did I do? I handwrote more often, and my handwriting improved greatly. So it’s best to polish your penmanship through sheer repitition.

One more point is to find a pen your hand is comfy with, with refills. Great refills include the well-known Mont Blanc Pens range. This enables you to polish your handwriting with a single pen.
