He said clearance status should not be a deciding factor for offering a job to someone and added that once a person is employed recruiters could always wait for the clearance to come through. He wanted fair job opportunities for all contractors.
Hadley said the only time a job seeker should be asked for clearances up front is when a contractor is required at short notice or the job is for a short term. He pointed out that this was in line with the guidance of the Cabinet Office. Hadley also called upon all bosses to understand the needs of the contractors and added that employers must act cautiously before demanding clearance up front.
